Proofing

Manuscript (up to 50k words): $125

Manuscript (50k to 100k): $200

Two rounds of listening/visual review
Focus on typos, spelling, word choice inconsistencies, grammar, and any other inconsistencies (i.e. the dog was blue and now it’s green)
After round one, the MS is sent back to you for review.
After your review, you send back for a second/final review.

Content/Line Edits

Price Per Word: $0.0125

Correct awkward sentence structure, repeated words and phrases
Grammatical edits to ensure professional standards
Tense continuity (stay in first or third person)
Story continuity
Offer word choice options, etc.
This is typically 2 rounds (but I will also look over just the changes made on round 2 as necessary) - one for a straight full read through, the second is a listening pass, which really highlights a lot of things we miss or miscorrect on the first pass (like we change a sentence, but don't catch other sentences that might be affected by the change). I will also edit a blurb on a line/content edit.

Sensitivity Reading (Disability and/or Mental Health Rep)

Manuscript (up to 50k words): $125

Manuscript (50k to 100k): $200

A review of the document to identify any problematic language and/or depictions and/or unrealistic depictions related to disability and/or mental health.
A focused review of specific disabled and/or characters with mental health conditions to identify both potentially problematic and/or positive depiction.
A summary report outlining strengths, opportunities, and suggestions to support accurate/positive/thoughtful representation.

Character/Story Development Consultation (Disability and/or Mental Health)

Flat Rate: $50

An hour consultative session focused on one to two specific characters to support their development around disability and/or mental health.
This will include an intake form allowing me to zero in on specific areas of representation.
The session will focus on ways to effectively and thoughtfully depict disability and/or mental health in your story. It will focus in how to develop those characters and weave disability and/or mental health into the story to avoid harmful stereotypes, inspirational porn, or trauma porn.
